Finalborgo, named one of the “most beautiful villages of Italy”, is a gem just a stone’s throw from the sea that enchants with its former atmosphere. The name derives from Burgum Finarii, a land border to the Roman times and the administrative center of the Marchesato del Del Carretto between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries. Closed between medieval walls still well preserved, interrupted by semicircular towers and interrupted only at the doors, the Borgo di Finale (so called to distinguish it from the Marina) offers the visitor a feeling of protection and recollection. The old defensive and communitarian conception survives in the network of streets, arranged perpendicularly to form fascinating glimpses in narrow spaces.
