As much as we are looking for our authentic house with all its charm and advantages, we also want to return to an authentic environment.

We build our guest rooms around the themes that are important to us, like the environment and open conversation.

Therefore we do not focus on the passer-by on his way to other places. For us, Le Surmelin is a destination in its own right if you are looking for a change of scenery and you love a good glass of champagne: quiet rural location, authentic house on the banks of the Surmelin in a village in the Champagne appellation, along the tourist route, close to the vineyards.



Le Surmelin has a deliberately chosen atmosphere in a specific setting. We live on site and are present for a talk, if you want it. Here you will find a rural change of scene, a friendly welcome, discretion and tranquillity, simplicity, openness and conversation, an artistic atmosphere. The atmosphere is simple and friendly in a green, quiet and above all natural environment.



The room, living room, lounge and terrace are furnished simply but comfortably and accessible for wheelchairs. We are not looking for luxurious decoration and materials, but simple and practical furniture that reflects a sincere and authentic atmosphere.

The room has its own accessible private bathroom with an "ride"-in shower and toilet with a barre, a small practical desk and two beds whicg are joinable to one bed with two matrasses.

There is no TV nor music, just the sound of the river and its birds. The terrace accessible with a wheelchair is overlooking the river is superb for breakfast and especially for relaxing, in contact with the river, the wild garden and the bees, as we are natural beekeepers.

The room is accessible, without steps, by the wide front door, right from the parkingplace in front of the house. You simply ride in.



The landscapes of the valleys of the Marne and the Surmelin invite you to walk, cycle or ride a motorbike along the often unknown heritage of churches, castles, medieval buildings and the memory of the great wars. Above all, the landscape of vineyards, fields and forests will surprise you
